Self Portrait

I have to admit that I did not like the contest category this week at I {heart} faces.  I don't care to be in pictures, nor do I care to look at them for too long if someone actually convinced me to get in one.  Now, I have discovered that even worse is editing an up close picture of my self . . .EESSHHHHK!  Anyway, my goal is to submit pictures for their contests every week, whether I have what I think is a great picture or not.  Otherwise, I'd never enter (seeing so many other great pictures out there!).  Technically, the hardest part for me was getting the correct part in focus as I had to only guess since I (obviously) could not look through the camera to see where it was focusing.

The above picture is a self portrait of my son and me and my entry for the "kids" side of the contest.  Click here to see more kids entries.  He is so goofy and he actually was doing this while I was attempting to take my adult self portrait.  Although the right part is not in focus, I like it.  He totally makes the picture and he always makes me laugh, so it is pretty appropriate.

The below picture is my entry for the adult side of the contest.  Although I do not plan on doing any more of these self-portraits any time soon, I am looking forward to seeing all the other entries.  I think it will be a fun week!  To see more adult entries click here.

I didn't enjoy editing my photo either, but I was very glad to be able to edit it! Otherwise I wouldn't have entered. :) You look absolutely gorgeous in both photos, and they are creatively composed. Nice!

Like you, I don't like self portraits either. I can totally go without 'em and be fine with it. Not a big fan of looking at myself.

I like your pictures. Took me a second to spot your son in the background. Very nice and creative photos.

Very neat angles for both pictures! You are gorgeous... but I understand about editing pics of yourself. They turned out great, though!

Absolutely love the picture of you -- so very soulful and beautiful -- I'd love to know how you took that one. What a great angle.

I hated this theme too, but man I am loving seeing everyone else's entries! You look so pretty in both of your entries. Your kids entry is adorable with your son laughing in the background...awesome!

I almost missed your son in the first picture! You did a remarkable job with a very hard category. Thanks for showing us your face! The moodiness of the B&W is great.

Like you, I despise this week's theme. I work really hard not to ever post pics of myself on my blog...esp. ones that I have taken myself. Never-the-less, I love the story the first photo tells and the b&w is just truly amazing! Great job!

It is amazing that no matter how much we hate doing these they still turn out good. You did a great job!

I love both pictures but really like your self portrait the best. You are a beautiful woman.

I too did not like doing this weeks theme but I hung in there and did it.

Great shot and I love the angles. I am forever struggling with getting the background or foreground to be blurry when I want it to.
